April 2008

While the primary reason for this months visit was to see the progress on the door installations and start work on the terrace we did manage to fit in one or two other tasks. The first of which was to cut down a very old and unwell apple tree near the pond. It was only when the chainsaw flew through the trunk that the extent of the internal damage to the tree became evident.

One job that has been niggling me ever since we bought the house was to remove some of the ivy over the remaining two walls of what was once a barn. So with a spare hour I started hacking away and revealed part of the walls and they are in remarkably good condition. On the next trip I will need to seal the top to stop further water damage so we can preserve them for a future workshop/garage project!

And lastly Sue continued work on the Pond and it is now looking better than ever with flowerbeds dug over, some new plants installed and more weed removed the water.
