A Wall Story – Part 1
With the pool now in full operation we have turned our attention to tidying up the area around it in preparation for laying the slabs next year(ish). The first priority is a retaining wall to hold back the 1 metre or so of bank where the terracing was done. Once this wall is built and the ground leveled a terrace will be put on the back of the house, so eventually (read years here) you will come out of the doors on the back of the house onto a terrace and then down some steps to the pool terrace….. thats the theory!
Back to the wall…. we needed to put foundations in, simple to say but difficult to do especially as most of it is in shale. A quick visit to the local tool hire store and we have a 25KG breaker to help us, even with this it took 2 days to dig 17 metres of footings and remove some 3 tons of soil/rock!
So the footings are done and now just the simple matter of laying the 180 concrete blocks……. this was meant to have been started today but it rained!
Many thanks to Alan… without him I couldnt have done it!
