Savignac Ledrier – The ‘Forge’
There is a lovely small chateau at Savignac Ledrier but it is privately owned (gardens opened one daya a year for charity) but just below it is a French ‘Ancient Monument’ a Forge or ironworks. It dates back to the early 1500’s and is well worth a walk around (guided tours available twice a week).

There is a free car park just by the bridge and you can walk down one side of the river past all the forge buildings, then over a new pedestrian bridge and back along the other side of the river. There are about hald a dozen information points that tell you the history.

Well worth a visit and it costs nothing!
