Dordogne Retreat - a farmhouse tale

The last of our 5 sets of visitors departed for home today leaving us on our own! The girls enjoyed having a friend each to stay for 5 days and I think they might come back again another year.

Returning this year after a short visit last Summer we were pleased to welcome back Alan, Julia and James. Alan insisted on helping with projects and withour his tremendous help the wall project would never have go off the ground, let alone one metre above ground.

Alan assures me that he had a good time despite his heavy workload. Hopefully we will see them here again.

Alan, Julia and James lef this morning but before their departure they modelled the exclusive farmhouse teashirts that have been given to all our guests this summer....

We were delighted that our very good friends Peter and Felicity came to visit us for a week. The company was good, the food was excellent (especially the plum crumbles made from our very own plums, and a special mention for the lemon tart - thank you Felicity!) and all in all a good time was had by all.

Peter has not been well for the past few years (Peters Blog) and it was good to see him in such fine form and eating so well. In fact I am convinced he ate more than I did during the time he was here, and that takes some doing! The news on his return was that he only put on a pound and a half, hope the same applies to me!

We visited Brantome and had a good walk around the town and a lovely lunch by the river. The moules frites was good!

The first visitors (before Izzie and I arrived) were friends of Alex celebrating the end of exams! Sue bravely hosted them for a few days and made the first of many trips to Limoges airport to collect guests.
